The Gardendale Volunteer Fire Department was established in 1971 to provide emergency services to Citizens of East Bexar County (San Antonio, Texas). The Department covers approximately 18 square miles and provides fire, rescue, first responder and public education to citizens in and around its area.

On October 23rd 2008, the fire department now provids services for ESD 10.

Current 2008 Member of the State Firemen's and Fire Marshals' Association of Texas.
